There is an abundance of natural and national attractions surrounding

the Southwest region of Washington.

 Fort Vancouver

Just a couple of minutes east of Vancouver City proper and north across the mighty Columbia River, this national historic monument is the rebuilt Trading Outpost of the Hudson Bay Company.

Established in 1825 after the Lewis & Clarke expedition its manager John McLoughlin was a Chief Factor of the Hudson's Bay Company.

Soon it was the controlling centre of the (Old) Oregon Territories, but was later abandoned in 1860.

Vancouver Washington

As the 4th largest city in the state of Washington, Vancouver is:
  • Nestled in the fruitful Willamette Valley between the Cascade & Coastal mountains of the Pacific Northwest Territories
  • Situated on northern shores of the mighty Columbia River
  • Surrounding Fort Vancouver, site of the Hudson Bay Trading Company
  • Directly across from Portland, Oregon
  • 45 minutes from volcanic Mount St. Helens
  • 1 hour from Majestic Mount Hood in the Cascade mountains
  • 6 hours south of Vancouver BC, Canada
  • Western End of SR-14 The Columbia Gorge National Scenic Highway
  • Easily accessible from US I-5, US I-205, & US I-84

Mount St. Helens

Located just 40 miles northeast of Vancouver, it is a pleasant trip to visit the Mt. St. Helens National Monument.

Mount Saint Helens is very much an active volcano.

Erupting on May 18th 1980

It lost 4,500 ft from its peak in 1 day; caused devastating floods down all water tributaries; blocked-out the sun as a solar eclipse across the state of Washington.

Maryhill Museum

Located 2 hours east of Vancouver  on SR-14 (The Columbia Gorge National Scenic Highway), this magnificent castle and surrounding gardens renders a stunning view overlooking the Columbia River.

A must for any tourist to see first-hand.
